VHF Marine Radio Course
A VHF is an essential item of safety equipment and should be fitted or carried on all boats. If you are using a VHF marine radio it is mandatory to be licensed to use it. Taking a VHF radio course to ensure that you know how to use it is very beneficial and will allow you to pass the required exam to gain your Radio Operator's Certificate.
This is a one day VHF radio course and covers the rules and regulations, channels to use, do's and don'ts, Mayday calls etc. By the end of the day you will be ready to take your exam and join the hundreds of succesful candidates who have passed through Torbay Sea School having gained their licence.
About 50% of the course consists of practical experience using 4 interconnected radios. We don't use computer simulators at Torbay Sea School but prefer to allow you to gain confidence and competence using the "real thing"; we use ICOM IC-M421, IC-M505 and IC-M601 radios which have been specially adapted to prevent transmissions outside our classroom.
