This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.
Course topics include:
position fixing
course shaping and plotting
tidal knowledge
use of almanacs and admiralty publications
electronic position finding equipment
taking and interpreting forecasts
plotting weather systems
weather predictions using a barometer and by observation
collision regulations
customs and excise regulations for cruising abroad
Our start days are favourable for your work patterns since we usually start them on a Thursday and conclude on a Monday to allow you to use the weekend and avaoid taking too many holiday days from your workplace.
Night school Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Shorebased courses are designed for you to complete the course during those dark evenings when boating isn't top of your priorities. We space the course over 22 weeks for 2 hours on each Wednesday evening, but have a lengthy Christmas break and conclude the course shortly before Easter. Ideal for the new boating season.
