Sailing Courses from Day Skipper to Yachtmaster at Torbay Sea School

Sailing courses are undertaken on a variety of modern sailing yachts but our main
school yacht is an almost new and very spacious Bavaria 37 fitted with a furling
Genoa head-sail and single -line mainsail reefing to allow easy sailing.

Sailing with us is very different from the large commercially driven schools in the
Solent. We care about YOU and what your requirements entail. In our sailing area,
we don't have to race to our destination by 2 p.m. to guarantee a berth and the
sailing instruction is given at a manageable, understandable pace. We tailor each
course to the requirements of the candidates on board at the time and our student
to instructor ratio is 4:1 unless we advise you otherwise.

Navigation is taught using traditional charting techniques along with electronic
methods using brand new Raymarine chart plotters and Radar.

Our sailing courses use yachts offering spacious and comfortable accommodation
and are chosen for their easy handling characteristics, stability, good cruising
speeds and modern designs. Safety comes first and all our yachts are fully insured
for RYA training and RYA & Coastguard approved.

We operate around the sheltered South Devon coastline around the Torbay,
Salcombe and Dartmouth areas. We don't sail from marina to marina, instead we
like to sail to perfect tranquil areas and specialise in showing you Devon's most
beautiful spots. Daily evening stops in quaint towns & villages tucked away from

Our RYA approved instructors are hand picked and very experienced with at least
15 years at sea, they offer sailing instruction following a tried and tested structure.
We ensure that they are the best available with humanity and a sense of humour
built in. We aim to give you an enjoyable holiday whilst gaining valuable knowledge
on the way. Make sure you bring a camera, your sense of humour and prepare to
have the best experience of scenery and hospitality.
